After going through a very mild and dry December, the site and sound of rain falling and the extended forecast of more to come has brought a smile to many a fisherman's face and will add a much needed shot of fresh water into all of the river systems on the west side.
After weeks of guiding and fishing I have had the opportunity to leave paint smears and boat chips in many of my favorite rivers. With the daily stream flows at or near historical lows the fishing has been challenging for the most talented of anglers and guides. After a month of running gin clear cold rivers I am ready for some high dirty water. It pays this time of year to observant of the stream flows and knowing the high range of fish able water conditions in your favorite rivers. The ability to be able to drop what your doing and hit the water when conditions are right can be the difference between a good year and great year.
I also wanted to take a moment to pass along a heartfelt and appreciative thank you to Mark Burch and Bob Giberson. These guys fished hard and with patience through one of the more challenging of conditions...real low river flows and freezing cold water temperatures. Thanks for the great day and I am looking forward to fishing with you soon.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
